JOB SUMMARY
The Credential Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the medical staff credentialing function, as well as any administrative work related to medical staff. Assignments are planned and executed with considerable independence in compliance with establish policies and procedures, bylaws, regulations and laws.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists in the organizing and directing of a comprehensive and specialized credentialing program to assure continues accreditation by The Joint Commission and other regulatory organizations.
Demonstrates professional conduct and complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Adheres to hospital attendance policy as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Maintains systems to identify medical staff members and their clinical privileges; prepares and maintains other related records and reports. Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing and privileging database system.
Oversees the completion of the credentialing process for medical, professional, and granting of clinical privileges.
Responsible for coordinating, monitoring and maintaining the credential and re-credentialing process.
Works with medical staff leadership and hospital clinical staff for the approval and ongoing review of credentialed practitioners.
Monitors and revises credentialing and privileging forms as needed. Maintains medical staff files.
Communicates medical staff information to appropriate departments.
Facilitates medical staff orientation, as well as other on-boarding activities.
Uses discretion and independent judgment in handling patent or physician complaints received, documents and forwards to appropriate administrative staff.
Communicates with Director of Provider Relations any information received from physician, patient or employees about the patient’s care or needs.
Strives to maintain positive internal and external customer service relationships.
Demonstrates effective communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions when clarification is needed.
Plans and organizes work effectively and ensures its completion.

Files all office records as necessary.

Complies with established Safety and Patient Safety Program practices.
Attends staff meetings and in-services at directed.
Develops an understanding of responsibilities for Performance Improvement activities and participates in such activities.
Limits access to protected health information (PHI) to the information reasonably necessary to do the job and shares such information only on a need to know basis for work purposes.
